FAQs
Can I cook with my custom skillet?
Of course! You can cook with and care for your skillet just like any other piece of cast iron! Just a heads up, the engraved section of the skillet will darken over time. If you prefer to maintain the color of the skillet, we recommend using this skillet as a decorative piece and reaching for one of our classic skillets to cook with.
How do I care for my skillet?
If you choose to cook with your skillet, care for it like you would any piece of cast iron. After you cook: wash with warm, soapy water, dry thoroughly, and add a thin layer of cooking oil to protect from rust. Want more tips? Read our Beginner’s Guide to Cast Iron.
How are the Custom Skillets engraved?
Custom Skillets start out in the same place as all of our other cookware: they’re made in our foundry in South Pittsburg, TN. After, they come to our Custom Shop, where experienced techs use a special engraving machine to create your personalized skillet. This machine provides the precision we need to bring each design to life.
Why do the Custom Skillets have a bronze patina?
After our Custom Skillets are engraved, they are seasoned for a second time—but this time with flax seed oil, which imparts a bronze tone to the engraved section of your skillet.
Where does the design go?
The design is engraved on the bottom of the skillet—just like our logo skillets.
Can I update the design after I’ve placed my order?
No, it’s important to review your design before placing your order, as we cannot accommodate changes once the order has been placed. Terms and conditions apply.
How quickly will I get my order?
Because this is a custom piece, we’ll need a little more time to get everything ready to go. Typically, we’re able to process a business order within four to six weeks. We’ll send you an email as soon as the skillet ships!
What is the shipping cost?
Shipping cost is based on location, quantity, and speed.
Can custom skillets be returned?
If your custom cast iron skillet arrives improperly engraved, broken, or damaged, please reach out to our Customer Care Team for help with making a return. Please note: We will NOT be able to return items due to mistakes in your reviewed and submitted design. It’s very important to carefully review your custom design before purchasing.
